Glew will sometimes embellish a piece with stitching and embroidery creating a beautiful and delicate finish to her mesmerizing art work.
In past exhibitions Glew has incorporated her work into antique and vintage US and UK national flags. To celebrate her arrival in the Southern Hemisphere as well as this major solo show in Sydney, Pam Glew will be working for the first time with the Australian flag. This unique collection will be expertly crafted by the artist using vintage denim, stars and stripes and antique red, white and blue linen.
As with past works Glew will be using images of iconic and celebrated individuals within our society. The artist has also taken inspiration from the Australian flag itself, with hints of astronomy and a star lit night sky evident. Each portrait could almost be a film still with an extraordinary luminance which seems to radiate or reflect light.
