Shannon Crees

Shannon Crees

Shannon Crees is a Contemporary Sydney based artist, born 1979.

Her works are primarily figurative, evolving from a background
in fashion design, illustration and graphics.
Shannon’s background in fashion is apparent, as is the influence of street art, manga, romanticism and classic portraiture in her work.
The figures grow from the textural tapestry but remain woven into the layers that become a dream like landscape.

"My artworks are a reaction to my immediate environment. They entertain notions of emotional and environmental fragility, and a sense of the fusion of both"
Inspired by a love of exotic stylised art practices, Shannon produces beautiful, multi-layered artworks.

Shannon was the only Australian artist included in the high
profile line up of ‘the best graffiti artists in the world’ at Banksy’s
cans festival in London.

The Sydney based creative now dedicates most of her time to large scale artworks and participating in 'live painting shows' creating artworks for an audience, including Project 5, Bar Music Hall in the UK and Sydney International Motor Show.

She was the winner of Leicharddt councils’  'Wall to Wall' competition, with an 80 square meter mural.
Has featured on Telivision shows ‘getaway’, ‘The apprentice’ as well as a profile on
the ABC news art segment.

Described as "an accomplished international artist", her artwork has been exhibited widely including Sydney's' Museum of Contemporary Art. Artworks have been purchased for private collections in New Zealand, Germany,
England, America, Japan, Pakistan and Australia.
